Brick
This is a building I saw when I was in Battle Creek. It was being demolished in a couple months because of its age. The colors stood of the brick stood out to me and I thought it deserved to be photographed. I wondered what it had been used for, how old it was, and what could I see through the windows. I tried to create the same questions for the viewer.

Backwards L
I liked the smooth stone, corners and edges on this building. I tried to replicate the same shape with the sky and create contrast between the two. I wanted to focus on the form and create leading lines with the building that draw the eyes to the sky.

Sunglass Filter
I noticed how the sunglasses shift the colors into a warmer purple. I wanted to show that by contrasting it with a normal view as well. The lens creates a focal point in the center of the piece. I think it makes this makes it more interesting than a normal sunset picture.

Stare
I used a photoshop technique from Digital Photography I to crop different parts of the subject. I cropped mostly the eyes to focus on different perspectives from a single person. I tried to keep it simple and black and white so the focus was only on the portrait and cropping.

Smile
This is a simple portrait I took of my mom. It was taken kind of jokingly but I find the most emotion comes from when someone isn't trying to pose or act a certain way. This simple shot conveys a lot of emotion and only focuses on one subject: the person.
